After two hot days hiking at Zion and Bryce, we are pretty
much wiped out. Fortunately tomorrow we will arrive at my Aunt and Uncle’s
house in northern Utah for a little regrouping.

Conversation of the Day (in the minivan):
Charlie: Where’s the Archie Comic?
Me: in the media bag.
Charlie (after about 5 seconds): I can’t find it.
Me: If you can’t find it, about 99% of the time you are not
looking hard enough.
Charlie: Oh I found it.
Dan: Guess that wasn’t the 1% then.

Here are a few highlights of our day at Zion:
Charlie enjoying the “rain” at Weeping Rock. Water is forced
out through the walls of the canyon and drips or rains down. Pretty neat.
On the Riverside Walk: "Squirrel!"
“Ack it’s coming towards me!” The squirrels were fearless. I had one sneak
up behind me as I was eating my pb&j sandwich and nearly steal a bite.
“That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent
you ever set eyes on!”

Our last hike of the day was to the Lower Emerald Pools (the
pool was more “Muddy Brown” than “Emerald” but whatever. Water falling from
rocks is still cool.). We were tired and it was hot out (in the 90s) so the "rain" felt really good!
We went back to the Emerald Pools trailhead at the Virgin
River. The kids decided to do some “fishing”…
Which of course led to complete submersion…
And some epic cannonballs. A great end to our day at
Zion!
Nice blog.... looks like all of you are having a great adventure!
